Mega Evolution is the trademark of Generation 6 and is one of the most iconic battle mechanics in the history of Pokemon games and even the anime. This rare phenomenon requires two components.

First is the Mega Ring, which is worn by the Trainer, then a Mega Stone, which is held by the Pokemon.

Only a small number of Pokemon can Mega Evolve, and each one has a unique Mega Stone. In this guide, we’ll show you how to obtain all the Mega Stones in Pokemon X and Y.

How to Get Mega Stones in Pokemon X and Y

Kanto Starter Mega Stones

The first Mega Stone you get your hands on will be one of the Mega Stones for the Kanto starter Pokemon.

Professor Sycamore will let you choose between three Kanto starter Pokemon, and he will also give you the corresponding Mega Stone.

The good news is, you can obtain them all later in the game. Upon arriving at Lumiose City, go to Vernal Avenue and look for the Stone Emporium.

The Mega Stone for your chosen Pokemon’s counter will be for sale. After beating the Pokemon League, the third starter’s Mega Stone will be available in the same location.

Pro tip: You can increase your style by going to salons in Lumiose City to make the Mega Stone cheaper.
