Catching Regular Legendary Pokemon
This part of the guide will tell you the locations of all Pokemon Radical Red Legendary that can be encountered and captured by normal means.
Legendary Pokemon | How to Obtain |
---|---|
Cobalion![]() |
Head to Mt. Moon and when you’re inside, make your way down to the west side. You will need a Pokemon with Rock Smash and go down another level lower. Cobalion should be right there waiting for you. |
Articuno/Galarian Articuno![]() |
Obtaining Articuno is the same as it is in FireRed and LeafGreen. At any point when you have access to the Seafoam Islands, you can attempt to catch it. You will need to have a Pokemon with Strength to push those rocks as you go down to where Articuno is. Don’t forget about a Pokemon with Surf to get to it. Galarian Articuno is located in the same area where Articuno is. You need to catch Articuno first and then wait one whole day in real-time before a Galarian Articuno spawns in the same spot. |
Heatran![]() |
Heatran takes Moltres’ place, which is located in Mt. Ember. You need to defeat Ariana and Archer first before Heatran is made available. Just make your way up to the top of Mt. Ember with a Pokemon that has Strength. |
Keldeo![]() |
To find Keldeo, we need to head back to the Seafoam Islands. This one is easy since there is no puzzle to solve or even an HM that you’ll need. Upon entering the Seafoam Islands, head to the first ladder going down. Head right and you’ll see Keldeo. |
Kubfu![]() |
Another Legendary Pokemon located in the Cerulean Cave. In the image, you will see the martial artist trainer who you will need to defeat. He will give you a Kubfu once you beat him. If you return to the spot the next day, you can fight him again. Beat him, and you can win another Kubfu. Don’t forget to bring a Pokemon with Rock Smash to access him. |
Kyogre![]() |
It is a bit tricky to get to Kyogre, but not impossible. You’ll need the Z Ring first, so don’t go to the Seafoam Islands without it. Venture deeper into the Seafoam Islands with Rock Smash and Surf. You’ll see Bryce, and you will have to win the Sandshrew race. The race can be a challenge, so just try again if you lose. After you beat the Sandshrew, it will open the path, allowing you to go up. Talk to Bryce and then Surf in the water to get to Kyogre. |
Magearna![]() |
Magearna is accessible in the new area located in the Power Plant. All you have to do is head to the western exit, and there’s a cave that you can enter. This entrance will send you to another part of the Rock Tunnel, but it shouldn’t be hard to navigate, as Magearna is in the upper left section. |
Marshadow![]() |
Before you can catch Marshadow, you need to beat the Gym Leader Morty in a rematch. Once you beat him, head to the top floor of the Pokemon Tower. You will need a Z Ring to fight Marshadow because without it, you won’t be able to encounter it. To get the Z Ring, you will need to beat the Dumbass Jojo Fan on One Island. |
Mew![]() |
In order to obtain Mew, you need to catch Mewtwo first. Once you have Mewtwo, head over to Three Island if you have access to it. Make your way to Berry Forest and talk to Mewtwo, who should be following you. After the dialogue, you will be sent to an area where there is an old man. Defeat the old man and Mew will appear, which will then your party. |
Mewtwo![]() |
You must first need to beat the Elite Four first, like in the original games. Mewtwo is still located in the same spot in the Cerulean Cave. You’ll need Surf and some tough Pokemon since the cave is filled with strong wild Pokemon. Mewtwo itself is also tough, so don’t forget to apply type advantages and use Ultra Balls to catch it. |
Moltres/Galarian Moltres![]() |
Moltres is located in a different area and not in Mt. Ember, where it should originally be. You can find it in the new area of the Safari Zone. The area is west of Area 4 (where you get HM Surf). You’ll need a Pokemon with Surf and just head north of the new area where Moltres is. Galarian Moltres will appear the day after when you’ve finished catching Moltres in the same area in the Safari Zone. |
Terrakion![]() |
You need a Pokemon with Flash and Rock Smash. Head to the Rock Tunnel and use Flash immediately. It’s a bit of a long walk, and it may take time if you haven’t defeated all the Trainers down there. Use Repels to avoid wild Pokemon battles. Terrakion should be located several floors below. |
Virizion![]() |
Virizion is easy to find, and it is in the Kanto region. It is located in Viridian Forest, in the far western part. You will need a Pokemon with Rock Smash to access where Virizion is. |
Zapdos/Galarian Zapdos![]() |
Zapdos is in the same location as it has always been. This one is located in the Power Plant in Kanto, which is a familiar location. All you have to do is go to the top of the Power Plant where Zapdos is, just standing menacingly. Much like the other two Legendary Birds, after catching Zapdos, you need to wait for a day in real time. Galarian Zapdos will be in the same location where Zapdos is in the Power Plant. |
Catching Roaming Legendary Pokemon
In this section, we’ll teach you how to unlock and obtain the following Radical Red Legendary Pokemon. These are the roaming ones where you encounter them randomly in the wild.
To unlock the roaming Legendaries, you need to have all 8 Gym Badges first. Head over to Viridian City and head to where the Indigo Plateau should be.
One of Professor Oak’s aides will chase after you and unlock the roaming Legendaries. (image below)

When you want to catch them, simply open your map and you can see which Legendary is present in which part of the map.
Go to the area to spark an encounter. The encounter rate is still quite low, but at least you know where they are.

Catching Raid Den Legendary Pokemon
This section is all about Legendary Pokemon that can be obtained through a Raid Den. These red rock-like structures are located all over the map.
To start a raid battle, simply approach it and you’ll see a silhouette of the Legendary available for battle.

You will also need to have Pokemon for the required level since these battles are not easy. You can also choose a partner to aid you in battle.
It will be a 2 vs. 1 (you and an NPC trainer) battle against one Legendary Pokemon.
You can then choose to catch the Legendary or just defeat it if you want.
The Legendary that appears on a Raid Den may vary, but each den contains a specific group of Pokemon as listed below:

Using Mystery Codes to Get Legendary Pokemon

This method is very easy because you just have to head to any Pokemon Center.
Talk to the nurse and choose the Mystery Code option. Input the code of the Legendary and it will be made available to you.
Note: If the code doesn’t work, it means that the code might be inputted incorrectly. Take a look at lower cases and upper cases. There are also some Legendary Pokemon that can only be claimed after you beat the Elite Four and Champion for the first time. Just try again later if you need to.

There you have it, a comprehensive Pokemon Radical Red Legendary guide.
This hack definitely has a ton of Legendaries for you to hunt down. Whether you go the traditional way, use codes, or encounter roaming ones, they’re made convenient for you.
Even though you may not be able to use all the Legendary Pokemon right away, it’s a nice feeling to catch them.
Plus, this is the legit method and you don’t have to use cheats to get them. You could use some cheats, but that defeats the purpose.
